Overview of E-commerce and E-export in Turkey
Based on data from the E-commerce Information System (ETBİS) of the Ministry of Commerce, the e-commerce volume in Turkey has been steadily increasing. In 2019, it was 136 billion TL, in 2020 it reached 226 billion TL, and in 2021 it was 381.5 billion TL. In 2022, the e-commerce volume in Turkey increased by 109 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 800 billion TL.

Euromonitor estimates that the e-commerce volume in Turkey will increase to 2.3 times its current volume by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 23.7 percent between 2020 and 2025. The global compound annual growth rate is estimated to be 11.7 percent.

Based on the data from ETBİS, the number of businesses involved in e-commerce has increased by 701% from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, the number of online orders has increased by 252% between 2019 and 2021. This growth rate has continued in 2021.
According to Euromonitor, global cross-border e-commerce retail value was $1.4 trillion in 2017 and reached $3.5 trillion in 2022.

Based on the data provided by ETBİS, the percentage of domestic expenditures on e-commerce sites decreased from 92% in 2021 to 91.3% in 2022. Meanwhile, the expenditures of other countries on our country's e-commerce sites increased from 4% to 4.2%, and purchases from abroad increased from 4% to 4.5%.
